- The Cafritz family property - located in Riverdale Park,
Maryland - comprises 35.8 acres. This site was used in
the 1940s and 50s for workforce housing for the ERCO facility
adjacent to the railroad tracks but was abandoned at the
end of the 50s. Many individuals who lived and played
at the site still remember the temporary houses.
- In June 2007, the Cafrtiz family and its development
team began a series of community workshops seeking ideas
for potential development of the property. Members of
the community were invited to share their vision for the
property. These suggestions will be used to develop design
principles and a master plan for the community.
- The Cafritz family is dedicated to creating a point of pride. Because of the unique location, access to transit and the size of the property, we would create a vibrant, high quality mixed-use neighborhood with an upscale grocer and specialty retail and restaurants for neighborhood residents as well as a village square for concerts, festivals and other events.
